Cypriots "addicted" to shopping – the country stands out in retail trade

Retail trade in Cyprus is on an upward trajectory, with the country leading the European Union in growth for another month. According to Eurostat data, retail turnover in Cyprus rose by 8.2% in December, far exceeding the EU average of 1.7%. This significant growth follows an even higher annual increase of 8.5% recorded in November. December's performance was bolstered by traditional holiday shopping, a period of typically high consumer activity. Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Luxembourg recorded the highest annual increases among member states with available data. In contrast, several countries like Slovakia and Romania saw a decline in their retail trade volume during the same period.
