New loans at €4.9 billion in 2025 - A 29% jump and a historic record

In 2025, new loans disbursed by banks reached record levels, with significant increases in both business and household loans. According to the Central Bank, new loans totaled €4.9 billion, a 28.7% increase from €3.8 billion in 2024. Business loans increased by 35% to €3.3 billion, while household loans rose by 18.1% to €1.7 billion. The Central Bank attributed this increase to the gradual easing of monetary policy and increased demand for financing.
