Vangelis Liolios files lawsuit against GBL team president over threatening messages

The Board of Directors of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) held an emergency meeting following threatening messages sent to President Vangelis Liolios. The messages reportedly originated from the president of a Stoiximan GBL club following a league defeat on February 1st. In response, the federation unanimously decided to seek immediate intervention from the sports prosecutor and submit all evidence to the Ethics Committee. Furthermore, FIBA will be formally notified of the incident through all relevant documentation and decisions. Legal proceedings include a criminal complaint for extortion and defamation, as well as a civil lawsuit for moral damages against those responsible. Any financial compensation awarded will be donated to youth development programs and efforts to combat sports-related violence.
