Stamped amphora handle sheds light on Late Hellenistic Paphos

A Polish archaeological mission in Paphos, Cyprus, discovered a sealed amphora handle dating back to 117 BC, confirming well-preserved Late Hellenistic architecture. The handle was found in Maloutena, in a trench foundation of a wall. Excavations also revealed metal smelting crucibles in Maloutena, suggesting a workshop within the urban area. Research in the Agora uncovered a water settling basin linked to a well from the early 2nd century BC, indicating complex usage phases of the site.
