Beirut has accused Israel of spraying its territory with glyphosate.
Lebanon has accused Israel of spraying glyphosate on its side of the border, raising concerns about the long-term impact on agriculture and the population. Lebanese authorities found glyphosate concentrations significantly higher than average in soil samples, causing damage to agricultural production and soil fertility. The Lebanese President condemned the act as a violation of sovereignty and an environmental crime. UNIFIL reported that the Israeli army sprayed a "non-toxic chemical substance" near the border, but has also complained about similar incidents in the past with "unknown chemical substances", leading to disruption of operations. Lebanon intends to file a complaint with the UN Security Council.
