The Water Development Department (WDD) clarifies that the "Póros and Environment" fee is not new but stems from the 2017 Water Management Regulations and has been applied for years to consumers using Government Water Works. The current process extends this legislation to all user categories, including private well users, which was previously difficult for administrative reasons. A study is underway to revise the department's pricing policy for fair and sustainable pricing by the end of 2026. The WDD acknowledges concerns but emphasizes this is not a crisis-related fee but enforcement of existing law for equal application, and meetings are planned with agricultural organizations to explain the calculation and payment methods. This fee has already been in place since 2020.
