Pavlos Liasidis presents proposal for Famagusta at election rally

Democratic Rally parliamentary candidate Pavlos Liasidis held his final election event titled 'Famagusta – The 25th Hour' to address the Cyprus issue. Liasidis argued that geopolitical shifts make a new round of negotiations inevitable and suggested that the international community may impose a 'predefined consequences' or backstop framework if talks fail. He urged the Greek Cypriot side to prepare concrete proposals to avoid being faced with faits accomplis. Liasidis identified Famagusta as the ideal site for confidence-building measures, asserting it is the primary location where Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots can resume cooperation. He specifically highlighted the Theophilou-Aresti-Chatzichampis proposal as a comprehensive, 'win-win' solution. He stated this plan extends beyond the fenced-off area of Varosha to encompass the entire city of Famagusta. His speech focused on the necessity of proactive diplomacy to address the ongoing stalemate in Cyprus.
