Cyprus police participate in international operation PANGEA against counterfeit goods

Between March 10 and March 23, 2026, the Republic of Cyprus participated in the 15th consecutive INTERPOL Operation PANGEA, targeting the illegal online trade of pharmaceutical products. Local efforts were coordinated by the Intellectual Property Theft and Illegal Betting Crime Unit, supported by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit and several national departments, including Customs, Postal Services, and the State General Laboratory. Authorities conducted 12 coordinated raids on various premises and performed inspections at key border entry points. In total, over 3,400 items were seized in Cyprus, including pharmaceuticals, narcotics, dietary supplements, and tobacco products. Globally, the initiative involved 90 countries, resulting in 158 investigations and the seizure of goods valued at over $15.5 million. Additionally, the global operation led to the closure of 5,700 illegal websites, the arrest of 269 suspects, and the dismantling of 66 criminal organizations. National authorities stated that the seized items violated various domestic prohibitions and regulations.
