Two separate fatalities reported in Liopetri and Paphos
On May 11, authorities in Cyprus responded to two separate death investigations. In the Liopetri area, British Bases police discovered a body inside a burning vehicle near a fish farm following a citizen report at 9:00 a.m. The scene was cordoned off as investigators work to determine the circumstances, with some reports suggesting a possible suicide investigation. Simultaneously, in the Paphos district near Praitori, the body of a 79-year-old man, previously reported missing since May 8, was recovered. Authorities had initiated an extensive search on Sunday involving drones and thermal cameras, which concluded on Monday with a helicopter locating the body in an open field. Forensic examinations and autopsies are expected to clarify the precise causes of death in both instances. Initial police assessments for the Paphos incident have tentatively ruled out criminal activity, while investigations in Liopetri remain open.
