EU ministers hold informal meetings in Nicosia
The informal meeting of EU Ministers for European Affairs is taking place in Nicosia as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Discussions scheduled for Monday include the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 and the enlargement of the EU with the participation of candidate and potential candidate countries. A working lunch will focus on countering information manipulation and foreign interference, including coordination with the United Kingdom, with a UK representative in attendance. A press conference will be held by Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna and Commissioner for Budget, Fraud Prevention and Public Administration Piotr Serafin. Simultaneously, an informal ministerial meeting on housing is being hosted in Cyprus, with Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Ioannou emphasizing the priority of these issues on the European agenda. While some sources describe the event as starting on Monday, others note that preliminary activities began earlier over the weekend. The meetings aim to address structural financial planning and geopolitical expansion strategies for the coming years.
