Democratic Rally presents tourism development strategy ahead of 2026 elections
The Democratic Rally (DISY) party has outlined its tourism development policy as part of its ongoing campaign for the May 24, 2026, elections. The party identifies tourism as a primary economic pillar, contributing up to 18% of the national economy. During its review of the 2013-2023 period, the party highlighted the establishment of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the implementation of the National Tourism Strategy. Key metrics cited include an increase in tourist arrivals from 2.4 million in 2013 to nearly 4 million in 2019. Major infrastructure projects, such as the City of Dreams Mediterranean and new marinas, were also noted as significant achievements. The party's proposed strategy focuses on extending the tourism season to nine months, improving air connectivity, and digital and green transformation under the 'Vision 2035' plan. DISY expressed concern regarding regional instability in the Middle East, calling for a crisis management plan to protect the sector. Additionally, the party asserted that market diversification efforts successfully facilitated recovery following the loss of the Russian tourist market.
