President Christodoulides calls for clear ideological frameworks in legislative elections

President Nikos Christodoulides addressed the importance of establishing clear ideological and political frameworks for candidates participating in the upcoming legislative elections. He made these remarks on Sunday in Palaichori following a memorial service for heroes Michalis Karaolis and Andreas Dimitriou. When asked about potential difficulties in working with new political parties should they enter Parliament, the President emphasized that the executive branch would fully respect the will of the Cypriot people. He noted that the current government already operates without a parliamentary majority and continues to seek consensus through collaboration. Christodoulides stressed that the challenges facing the Cypriot people transcend ideological labels. He asserted that while every candidate has the right to run, they bear the responsibility to clearly define their political positions. Finally, he reminded the public that Parliament serves a legislative, rather than an executive, function.
