Man carried on vehicle hood after traffic incident in Larnaca

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, around 12:40 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the Larnaca-Airport highway involving a rented silver Mazda Demio. After the collision, the driver of the rental vehicle refused to cooperate and attempted to leave the scene. When the victim approached a nearby police patrol for assistance, the suspect accelerated, causing the victim to be carried on the hood of the vehicle for approximately two kilometers. During the subsequent police pursuit, the suspect reportedly reached speeds of up to 150 km/h. The vehicle eventually slowed to 30–40 km/h near the Kalo Chorio roundabout, allowing the victim to dismount. The victim was treated at the Larnaca General Hospital for six hours for abrasions on the arms, legs, chest, and back, as well as bruising and rib pain. The incident was documented by local reports and dashcam footage.
