Driver flees scene after collision on Larnaca highway dragging man on hood
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, around 12:40 p.m., a traffic collision occurred on the highway between the Rizoelia and Kalo Chorio roundabouts in Larnaca. A 65-year-old man and his sister stopped their vehicle after being hit by a silver Mazda Demio rental car. The suspect driver refused to cooperate, stating he needed to leave. When the victim attempted to seek assistance from a nearby police patrol, the suspect accelerated, striking the man and causing him to land on the hood. The victim clung to the vehicle for approximately two kilometers while the car reached speeds reportedly up to 150 km/h. The incident ended when the vehicle slowed to 30–40 km/h near the Kalo Chorio roundabout, allowing the victim to fall onto the road. The man was treated at Larnaca General Hospital for six hours for bruises, scrapes, and rib pain. The suspect remains at large, and the police are actively investigating the incident.
