Five individuals arrested in Paphos for drug possession
On May 9, 2026, police in Kato Paphos, Cyprus, intercepted a vehicle carrying five individuals, including a 16-year-old minor. The group consisted of a 54-year-old driver and four passengers aged 16, 20, 25 or 35, and 27. Upon being stopped, the 27-year-old suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. A search revealed 83 grams of cocaine, 3,050 euros, and 70 pounds in his possession. Additional searches of the vehicle and passengers uncovered 4 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of magic mushrooms, 183 grams of cannabis, and 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, along with precision scales. While initial reports indicated the 27-year-old admitted ownership of the drugs, later statements from the suspects remained consistent with legal silence. The Paphos District Court ordered all five suspects to be detained for six days as investigations by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit continue.
