UK deploys HMS Dragon to the Middle East for maritime security planning

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence announced on Saturday the deployment of the destroyer HMS Dragon to the Middle East. This movement is part of a precautionary planning process intended to secure the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel will operate within a multinational coalition, which is under the joint leadership of the United Kingdom and France. The mission aims to protect commercial shipping and support potential mine-clearing operations following the cessation of hostilities. During an April meeting in London, military planners from over 44 countries discussed the logistics of this international task force. Approximately 40 nations have reportedly agreed to participate in the initiative to ensure the restoration of trade flows through this critical waterway.
