Strovolos municipality to implement smart parking systems

The Municipality of Strovolos has begun installing smart parking systems as part of the broader Smart Cyprus project. Funded by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the initiative is overseen by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy. By the end of 2026, 1,500 sensors will be installed in municipal and curbside parking locations during the first phase of the project. A mobile application will allow users to locate available parking spaces in real time using GPS. The system will provide data on parking costs, disabled access, and electric vehicle charging stations. Drivers will also be able to process payments via eWallet, extend parking time, and receive notifications before their sessions expire. Additionally, the system will notify authorities in the event of parking violations. Future phases of the project are scheduled to follow after the initial completion deadline.
