Vladimir Putin discusses conflict end and potential negotiations
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the conflict in Ukraine is nearing its conclusion. Following reports from the Financial Times regarding EU preparations for potential talks, the Kremlin reiterated that Moscow is open to dialogue but will not initiate contact, as it views the 2022 break in relations as a European decision. Putin expressed a preference for former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as a negotiator. Regarding a prisoner exchange proposed by US President Donald Trump, Putin stated that Moscow has received no such official proposal from the Ukrainian side. He emphasized that any meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would only occur after a viable peace agreement is reached. Furthermore, Putin commented that it would be logical for Armenia to hold a referendum on EU membership and expressed hope for a swift resolution to the conflict with Iran. Separately, the Kremlin denied allegations that it revoked credentials for foreign journalists during the May 9 Victory Day parade, noting that attendance was limited due to schedule adjustments.
