45-year-old man arrested at Larnaca airport for holiday rental fraud
A 45-year-old Jordanian man was arrested at Larnaca Airport shortly before 10:30 a.m. today following a court warrant issued in connection with an online holiday rental scam. The suspect is under investigation for obtaining money by false pretenses, theft, impersonation, and money laundering. The investigation began after five victims filed a report with the Famagusta CID on May 6, claiming they were defrauded by online advertisements for rental properties in Ayia Napa and Protaras. The suspect allegedly collected several thousand euros from these victims for apartments he did not own and which were found to be occupied by others upon their arrival. Evidence gathered by police led to the issuance of the warrant, and the suspect remains in custody. Records indicate the suspect was previously known to the Larnaca CID for involvement in similar offenses. The case is currently being handled by the Famagusta CID.
