Greek police solve the 2025 murder of Mafia member Georgios Moschouris
The Hellenic Police have resolved the murder of Georgios Moschouris, a prominent figure in the Greek Mafia known as 'Thamnakias', who was executed on April 24, 2025. The victim was shot with a Kalashnikov assault rifle while exiting a medical diagnostic center on Papanikoli Street in Chalandri, leaving 54 shell casings at the scene. Authorities have identified four suspects, including three Greek nationals and one individual already incarcerated. Two additional accomplices are currently being sought in connection with the crime. Investigative reports indicate that after the shooting, the perpetrators burned their escape vehicle in Patima Chalandri and fled. It has emerged that Moschouris was carrying a case file related to the murder of journalist Giorgos Karaivaz in his vehicle at the time of his death. Furthermore, intelligence suggests the group was planning another assassination targeting another member of the Greek Mafia. The victim had previously survived an assassination attempt in 2020.
