Cyprus Deputy Minister of Shipping addresses the 1st Mare Forum in Chios

At the 1st Mare Forum held in Chios, Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli emphasized the need for Europe to maintain a unified and strong voice in international shipping forums. She highlighted the fundamental role of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in establishing global regulations that ensure a level playing field. The Minister advocated for closer collaboration between policy-makers and the shipping industry to balance regulatory requirements with European competitiveness. Regarding the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the EU, she outlined goals to boost the appeal of maritime professions and promote skill development. A key focus is the implementation of the Nicosia Declaration, signed last week, which aims to advance maritime education, innovation, and decarbonization. Hadjimanoli reaffirmed Cyprus's commitment to maintaining a stable and business-friendly environment despite global uncertainties. The initiative reflects a broader push to ensure that maritime careers remain sustainable and future-proof.
