Unmanned surface vehicle discovered with explosives in Lefkada
An autonomous unmanned surface vehicle (USV), identified as a Magura V3 model of Ukrainian origin, was discovered by local fishermen in a sea cave near Cape Doukato on the island of Lefkada. The vessel was found with its engine running and was equipped with high-resolution cameras, GPS sensors, and approximately 100 to 200 kilograms of explosives. Authorities, including the Hellenic Armed Forces and the National Intelligence Service, secured the area and performed a controlled neutralization of the explosive payload. The device has since been transported to Elefsina for further technical examination. While the exact origin remains unclear, officials are investigating whether the drone was intended to target vessels associated with the Russian shadow fleet or if it drifted off course due to a technical failure. Ukrainian language notes were reportedly recovered from the vessel. Defense Minister Nikos Dendias confirmed that the government is analyzing the device to enhance domestic maritime drone and anti-drone defense capabilities.
