Nicosia court remands 26-year-old following 12kg cannabis seizure

A 26-year-old man was remanded in custody for eight days by the Nicosia District Court following his arrest by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and Customs Department. The arrest occurred during a coordinated operation on May 7, 2026, following the discovery of a courier package containing 4.38 kilograms of cannabis. Subsequent searches of the suspect's residence yielded an additional 3.4 kilograms of cannabis and eight mobile phones. Following further investigation, authorities located another parcel at a courier company addressed to the same suspect, containing four packages of cannabis weighing approximately 4.396 kilograms. The total amount of cannabis seized in connection with the case now stands at approximately 12 kilograms. The YKAN Nicosia unit continues the investigation into the matter.
