Cyprus police conclude investigation into the 'Santi' corruption allegations

Cypriot police have concluded the investigation phase regarding allegations of institutional corruption raised by Makarios Drousiotis, commonly referred to as the 'Santi' case. The authorities are currently awaiting technical findings from Europol and the FBI concerning digital profiles and messages linked to the pseudonym 'Santi'. Once these reports are received, the investigation file will be submitted to the Legal Service for further review and instruction. The individual behind the 'Santi' alias has previously admitted to fabricating and distributing the messages, an act legal experts deem potentially criminal. Separately, the Supreme Court has granted lawyer Nikos Clerides permission to file for a certiorari order to invalidate a search warrant executed on his premises on April 11. Judge Elena Ephraim approved most of the defense's arguments submitted by Christos, Alexandros, and Constantinos Clerides. However, the court denied two specific requests, including an interim injunction against the authorities.
