Civil Defence conducts wildfire evacuation drill in Koili
The Cyprus Civil Defence, in collaboration with local authorities and the police, conducted an evacuation drill in the village of Koili, Paphos, on Friday. This exercise was the first of five planned community drills scheduled for May to improve readiness for the upcoming fire season. The operation tested evacuation procedures, coordination among emergency services, and the establishment of a temporary accommodation area for residents. The Civil Defence acknowledged the contributions of the Koili and Mesogi community leaders, local councils, and the Forestry Department. Residents were provided an opportunity to familiarize themselves with safety protocols. Future drills are planned to continue in other districts, with the next exercise scheduled in Limnatis, Limassol, on Monday from 16:00 to 20:00.
