Larnaca district launches real-time weather monitoring network
The Larnaca District Local Government Organization (EOAL) has established a new network of 25 meteorological stations to provide real-time weather data. The project involves a partnership with the company Kitasweather and includes 17 newly installed stations alongside 5 existing municipal stations and 3 supplementary private stations. The new stations are located in Athienou, Agioi Vavatsinias, Anglisides, Klavdia, Pervolia, Dromolaxia, Aradippou, Pyrga, Zygi, Skarinou, Layia, Kalavasos, Psevdas, Mazotos, Kalo Chorio, Xylofagou, and Avdellero. Residents can access live data on rainfall, humidity, temperature, and wind speed via the organization's official website. The system also provides alerts for extreme weather conditions with precise geographic tracking. EOAL President Angelos Hatzicharalambous stated that this initiative aims to ensure rapid response to weather-related issues. Data analysis for April showed that higher rainfall occurred in the western areas of the district, with lower levels recorded in the south and southeast.
