Recent polls in Turkey show lead for AKP and rising approval for Erdogan
Recent polls conducted by Betimar and GENAR indicate that the ruling AKP party remains the most popular in Turkey, polling at 34.6% to 35.3%. The main opposition party, CHP, trails with 28.6% to 30.5%, followed by DEM Parti, MHP, and Iyi Party. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has seen a rise in his approval ratings, with 48.6% of respondents citing him as the best leader to manage a potential war crisis compared to Ekrem Imamoglu at 17.1% and Mansur Yavas at 16.6%. Pollsters suggest this rise is linked to Turkey's stance on the Iran-Israel conflict and the government's perceived role as a stabilizing force. Despite these political gains, the surveys highlight that the economy and the high cost of living remain the primary concerns for citizens, with many households struggling to afford basic necessities. Respondents generally blame Israel and the United States for the ongoing regional conflict. There is also an increasing consensus among the public that Turkey should assert itself as an independent regional power.
