Larnaca hosts the 16th Culture Next conference

From May 6 to 8, 2026, Larnaca is hosting the 16th Culture Next conference, titled 'Culture for CCS – Empowering the Cultural & Creative Sectors.' The event takes place at the Agios Lazaros Allildidaskaleio hall and gathers over 50 representatives from European cities, cultural organizations, and international institutions, including EIT Culture & Creativity and the European Commission. The primary focus is on improving the living and working conditions of professionals within the cultural and creative industries. Key topics include sustainability, professional burnout prevention, care policies, and inclusion. Local officials, including Mayor Andreas Vyras, Larnaca 2030 President Dinos Lefkaritis, and Deputy Ministry of Culture Director General Giorgos Papageorgiou, attended the opening to emphasize the city's role as a future European Capital of Culture. The conference also coincides with Europe Day celebrations to engage the local community and international partners, such as the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee. The event serves as a strategic step for Larnaca ahead of its designation as the European Capital of Culture in 2030.
