Ministry of Education announces new regulations for music and sports schools

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth in Cyprus has launched a public consultation process regarding the regulatory framework for music and sports schools. These institutions, which were first established in 2006, have operated for nearly two decades without a dedicated, unified set of rules. The ministry has introduced two draft regulations for 2026, one for each specific school type. These drafts aim to consolidate and standardize operational procedures, responsibilities, and the daily management of these educational facilities. Currently, these schools are governed by general school regulations, which the ministry intends to replace with specialized internal policies. The consultation process is designed to collect feedback from the public and stakeholders to refine these institutional frameworks. This initiative marks a significant structural change for the specialized education sector in the country.
