NEWSPAPER OPINION: The concerns of Cypriots

A recent Eurobarometer survey reveals a paradox: Cypriots and other Europeans are optimistic about their personal lives but anxious about global issues. Cypriots express significant concern regarding armed conflicts, terrorism, climate change-related disasters, cyberattacks, and uncontrolled migration. They are also particularly sensitive to misinformation, hate speech, AI-generated falsehoods, data privacy, and threats to free speech. Despite these anxieties, Cypriots maintain optimism about their families' futures and strongly support a more unified and robust European Union. They seek greater EU involvement and resources to address their security concerns.
