Major operation by the French Navy – Over 4 tons of cocaine seized on a ship

The French Navy seized 4.249 tons of cocaine from a ship in French Polynesia. The ship, originating from Central America and destined for South Africa, carried 174 packages of cocaine. The drugs were destroyed at sea, and the ship with its crew continued its journey. Authorities chose not to prosecute in Papeete due to the drugs not being destined there, similar to a previous seizure of 4.87 tons of cocaine. Pacific law enforcement agencies are collaborating to combat drug trafficking from Latin America to countries like Australia.
