Athens Philharmonic to perform at the Cyprus International Peace Concert
The Athens Philharmonic International Peace Concert is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2026, in Platres, Cyprus. The event, which will feature a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, is organized by the non-profit group Cyprus Music Festival Platres. It is supported by the American Medical Center and its founder, Dr. Marinos Soteriou. The concert is being held under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Conductor Yannis Hadjiloizou will lead the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra during the performance. The event will be broadcast internationally through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) network. Organizers state that the potential television audience for the live broadcast could exceed one billion people. The project aims to establish Cyprus as a venue for high-level international cultural events.
