Police dismantle ring forging rental agreements for student visas

The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has dismantled a criminal group involved in producing forged rental agreements. Authorities arrested nine individuals from Bangladesh, who allegedly provided fake documents to their compatriots to facilitate student registration and residency permits in the Republic of Cyprus. The suspects used counterfeit official seals to make the documents appear legitimate, with reports suggesting they charged between 100 and 200 euros per transaction. The arrests occurred between April 17 and April 28, 2026. Following the conclusion of the police investigation, the case was registered before the Famagusta District Court on April 28, 2026. The nine suspects have admitted to the charges and are currently being held in custody. They are scheduled to appear in court again for trial on May 15, 2026.
