Leaders to meet in Nicosia for Cyprus talks
Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman are scheduled to meet tomorrow at 4:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the residence of UN Special Representative Colin Stewart (referred to as Hasim Diyan in provided text) within the Nicosia Airport buffer zone. This event follows their previous private meeting held on April 6. No media presence will be permitted on-site. During the April 6 meeting, both leaders discussed confidence-building measures and pledged to continue supporting UN-led efforts in Cyprus. Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou and Turkish Cypriot representative Mehmet Dana met last Monday to prepare for this upcoming discussion. President Christodoulides has previously indicated that progress on specific confidence-building measures is expected to be announced following this encounter.
