Development plans submitted for the abandoned village of Trozena in Limassol

The Limassol District Organization of Local Government has confirmed that an investment group has submitted a development application for the abandoned community of Trozena. The proposed project includes the construction of 60 housing units, a winery, and a camping site. The confirmation follows public controversy and social media claims regarding the status of the village land. Yiannis Tsouloftas, President of the Limassol District Organization of Local Government, verified that the application for the development is currently under review. While some reports suggested the entire village had been sold to foreign interests, officials clarified that the application pertains to land utilization by an investment entity. The project aims to renovate the area, which has remained largely abandoned for decades. No final approval has been granted yet, and the regulatory process is ongoing. The site, which was active as recently as the 1946 census, is now the subject of this significant infrastructure proposal.
