Cyprus to celebrate Europe Day with events in Nicosia and Larnaca

Cyprus will hold a series of events to mark Europe Day, beginning on Friday, May 9. At 12:30 pm, a reception will be held at Europe House, featuring addresses from Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, on behalf of President Nikos Christodoulides, and European Commissioner Costas Kadis. The event will include a musical performance by students from the GC School of Careers as part of the European Parliament’s Ambassador School programme. On Saturday, May 10, the festivities continue at 9:00 am with a flag-raising ceremony at the Davila Bastion in Eleftheria Square, Nicosia. This ceremony will include speeches by President Christodoulides, Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, Commissioner Kadis, and the head of the European Parliament Office, Thea Pieridou. Following the Nicosia event, celebrations will move to Larnaca at 5:00 pm, where information stands from various EU institutions, embassies, and partner organizations will be presented. The events aim to promote European cooperation and shared identity among member states. Organizers include the European Parliament Office in Nicosia and the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, working in cooperation with local municipalities.
