APOEL management considers response following officiating complaints
Following a 0-1 defeat against Aris in the seventh round of the Cyprus League play-offs on May 6, 2026, APOEL communications officer Nektarios Petevinos publicly criticized the quality of officiating. Petevinos stated that the team has lost many points throughout the season due to refereeing errors, specifically highlighting the dismissal of Laifis during the match. He confirmed that the club has engaged in discussions with Mr. Damatos four times this season regarding these issues. Petevinos noted that the club is now waiting for the board of directors, led by Charis Fotiou, to decide on potential formal actions. The official emphasized that the issue is not limited to a single incident, but rather a recurring problem that has negatively impacted the team during critical stages of the championship. No specific sanctions or formal protests have been announced yet, but further administrative developments are expected.
