APOEL expresses dissatisfaction with officiating following match against Aris
Following a 0-1 defeat against Aris in the seventh round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan playoffs, APOEL communication officer Nektarios Petevinos criticized the match officiating. The primary point of contention was the expulsion of Laifis, which Petevinos argued significantly impacted the game's outcome. Petevinos stated that APOEL has reached out to head of referees Mr. Damato four times throughout the season regarding officiating standards. He claimed that the club has lost significant points due to refereeing decisions, particularly when the championship race was tight. Petevinos spoke with the match referee after the final whistle but received no satisfactory explanation. He emphasized that the issue was not a single foul but the broader impact on the match flow. APOEL is currently awaiting a decision from its Board of Directors regarding further actions in response to the situation.
