Human remains discovered near cemetery in Tris Elies, Limassol

On Wednesday, May 6, human bones including a jaw fragment and ribs were discovered by citizens approximately 100 meters from the cemetery in the village of Tris Elies, Limassol. The site was cordoned off and placed under police guard to facilitate an investigation by the Morphou Criminal Investigation Department. An anthropologist, Marios Charstiotis, who leads the anthropological laboratory of the Republic of Cyprus, was involved in the examination. Preliminary findings suggest the remains belong to an elderly male, and there are currently no immediate signs of foul play. Authorities are actively investigating the possibility that the bones were disturbed or discarded during a past exhumation process at the adjacent cemetery. The Greek Cypriot representative of the Committee on Missing Persons was also notified due to historical investigations into missing persons in the region. All evidence has been collected for further scientific analysis to confirm the identity and circumstances surrounding the discovery.
