Firefighters rescue dog from pit in Ergates
On Wednesday, firefighters successfully rescued a dog that had fallen into an open water pit in the Ergates area of Nicosia. Personnel from the Lakatamia Fire Station and EMAK responded to the incident. The rescue operation involved the use of specialized equipment, specifically a tripod and rescue harness. The dog, identified in some reports as a puppy, was successfully extracted from the eight-metre deep pit. Following the operation, the animal was returned to its owner alive. No injuries were reported regarding the animal during the process. Authorities confirmed the equipment and tactics used ensured a safe outcome for the dog.
