Andreas Efstratiou registers as independent candidate in Paphos

Andreas Efstratiou has officially submitted his candidacy as an independent for the parliamentary elections in the Paphos district. This marks his latest attempt at elected office, continuing a 35-year history of participating in various electoral races including presidential, parliamentary, European, and local government elections. Efstratiou stated that he was the first to submit his nomination at the Paphos District Administration Office. He cited the recent allocation of a fifth parliamentary seat to the Paphos district as the primary reason for his current candidacy. In his public comments, he criticized established political parties, alleging they have failed the populace, and framed his campaign as a defense of the less privileged. The candidate also addressed his electoral history, acknowledging that he has never been elected to a public post despite his numerous attempts. Notably, during the 2013 presidential elections, a court ordered him to pay 20,000 euros to the state to cover half the costs incurred from a ballot misprinting error. Efstratiou is a father of eight and a grandfather of fourteen.
