Partners of the LIFE Pharma-Detox project hold review meeting in Catania

The LIFE Pharma-Detox project, a four-year European collaboration funded by the LIFE Programme, recently held a partner meeting at the University of Catania in Italy. The consortium is led by Medochemie and includes five partners from four European Union countries: Medochemie, Aarhus University, NEVIS (Novel Environmental Solutions S.A.), the National Technical University of Athens, and the University of Catania. During the meeting, members evaluated technical progress, coordinated ongoing activities, and established future milestones and deliverables. The project focuses on the development and implementation of an innovative pharmaceutical waste treatment system, which has been installed at Medochemie’s facilities. This system utilizes multi-stage processes and advanced oxidation techniques to break down active pharmaceutical ingredients into non-toxic compounds. Furthermore, the installation incorporates a water recycling system designed to improve environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to set new standards for industrial pharmaceutical waste management by combining academic research with industrial expertise.
