Update on independent candidates for the Cyprus legislative elections
The legislative elections in Cyprus have seen a record number of participants and parties. Larry Glen Ferguson initially notified the Nicosia District Administration of his intent to run as an independent candidate. However, he arrived at the filing location only to withdraw his candidacy at the last moment. In contrast, Konstantinos Mavrommatis officially filed his candidacy in Nicosia, citing a need for state support for families at risk of losing their homes and addressing political corruption. Alexis Makridis also submitted an independent candidacy for the Nicosia district. The election process continues as scheduled despite these fluctuations in the candidate list. These individuals represent a segment of independent candidates entering the race amidst high public interest. No further changes regarding the ballot have been reported following the official submission period.
