Cyprus Theatre Organization announces 2025 theatre awards reform and nominations
The Board of Directors of the Cyprus Theatre Organization (THOC) has announced a significant revision of the THOC Theatre Awards for 2025. This reform includes the introduction of new award categories and the restoration of the practice of announcing nominations prior to the award ceremony. A major addition is the biennial 'Nikos Charalambous' award, which will be presented directly by the Board to a creator involved in an ancient drama production. The organization has also released the list of nominees for the Best Direction award. Nominees include Eleni Anastasiou for 'Taking Sides' (Alpha Square), Thanasis Georgiou for 'The Glass Menagerie' (Open Arts and Theatro Dentro), Athina Kasiou for 'Twelfth Night' (Open Arts), and Lea Maleni for 'Erendira' (Persona). The ceremony will determine the winners across the categories, reflecting the current state and diversity of the Cypriot theatre scene. While sources provide slightly varying details regarding production credits for 'The Glass Menagerie', the shortlist remains consistent.
