Cyprus airports report April passenger traffic decline and summer outlook
Hermes Airports reported a 16% decline in passenger traffic for April compared to the same period in 2025, resulting in 95,000 fewer arriving passengers. The average aircraft occupancy at Larnaca and Paphos airports fell to 76% from 83% last year. However, occupancy rates showed improvement after April 20, ranging between 80% and 85%, with rates exceeding 90% in key markets like the United Kingdom and Poland. For the summer season from April to October, the operator expects a reduction in total capacity of up to 5%, equating to 600,000 seats and an estimated passenger loss of 9% or 450,000 arrivals. Most flight schedule adjustments involve reduced weekly frequencies rather than route cancellations, and there are plans for reinforced schedules in September. Currently, 54 airlines connect Cyprus to 165 destinations across 42 countries. Regarding aviation fuel, Hermes Airports confirmed that reserves are sufficient and flight programs remain unaffected.
