Eleni Theocharous calls for Solidarity movement supporters to back DIKO
Eleni Theocharous, President of the Solidarity (Allilengyi) movement, has officially urged her supporters to vote for the Democratic Party (DIKO) in the upcoming parliamentary elections. This move occurs alongside the expected formal dissolution of the Solidarity movement. Theocharous stated that this decision is based on political consistency and the need for a strong, patriotic voice in the legislature. She specifically cited the legacy of the late Tassos Papadopoulos as a foundational link between her party's ideological manifesto and DIKO's political platform. Theocharous emphasized that she and her supporters have shared many struggles with DIKO over the years. By directing her political base to join forces with Nicholas Papadopoulos’s party, she aims to strengthen the traditional center's influence. This development marks a significant realignment within the intermediate political space of Cyprus. The decision follows the formal submission of candidate lists for the parliamentary vote.
