OEB participated in an International Labour Organization meeting on AI in manufacturing
The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) participated in a technical committee meeting of the International Labour Organization (ILO) held in Geneva. The committee focused on the impact of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing sector. Markos Kallis, representing the OEB's Business Development Department, attended the meeting on behalf of the organization. The discussions centered on how AI influences productivity, employment, employee skills, and working conditions. The participants sought to develop a balanced and realistic approach for the adoption of AI technologies. The final agreed-upon text provides guidelines for creating cohesive policies regarding AI and industrial development. Specific recommendations include enhancing productivity and innovation, promoting lifelong learning, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Furthermore, the committee emphasized the importance of improving digital infrastructure, ensuring data protection, and fostering social dialogue during the transition to new technological standards.
