Syrian interior ministry reports disruption of a Hezbollah-linked cell

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the dismantling of a militant cell allegedly linked to Hezbollah, claiming the group was planning assassinations of high-ranking government officials. According to authorities, the operation involved coordinated security raids in the Damascus countryside, as well as the provinces of Aleppo, Homs, Tartus, and Latakia. The ministry reported that members of the cell had entered Syria covertly after receiving training in Lebanon. Authorities released photographs of 11 unidentified detainees along with seized weaponry, including firearms, ammunition, grenades, explosive devices, and surveillance equipment. In response, Hezbollah categorically denied the accusations, describing them as unfounded. The Lebanese group stated that it has no presence or operations within Syrian territory. Hezbollah further claimed that such statements are intended to create divisions between the peoples of Syria and Lebanon. The security claims remain disputed, with no independent verification provided for the specific affiliations of the detained individuals.
