Thirteen-year-old shooter attacks school in Rio Branco, Brazil

On Tuesday, a 13-year-old student opened fire inside a school in Rio Branco, the capital of the Brazilian state of Acre. Two staff members, identified as Alzenir Pereira and Raquel Sales Feitosa, were killed after reportedly attempting to intervene. An 11-year-old student and a 45-year-old staff member were injured by gunfire and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was arrested by local police at the scene. Authorities also apprehended the suspect's stepfather, the owner of the firearm used in the attack. Following the incident, the state government declared a three-day suspension of classes across all regional educational institutions. Law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation into the shooting.
