Fatal shooting of 21-year-old in Ammoudara, Crete

On May 5, 54-year-old Kostas Parasiris shot and killed 21-year-old Nikitas Gemistos in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete. The perpetrator, who blamed the victim for the 2023 traffic accident that claimed his 17-year-old son's life, rammed his vehicle into the victim's car before firing multiple shots. The attack occurred while the victim was on a video call with his partner, who witnessed the event. Security footage reportedly shows the assailant shooting the victim six times and kicking him. The victim had previously filed complaints against the suspect for harassment and violating court orders. Parasiris has been charged with premeditated murder, while his wife was arrested for complicity, as she was present in the car during the incident. During interrogation, the suspect claimed he did not plan the murder but acted out of emotional distress, though investigators are examining reports of premeditation and an earlier confrontation in February. The suspect is currently in custody awaiting trial.
